Calm Mind Mini Course

Welcome to Part 1 of the Calm Mind Mini Course!

Before watching the Video follow this guide to make the most of the Session.

Today is all about establishing a new habit to create a Calm Mind.

This lesson includes one of the most simple yet effective meditations I've experienced for bringing calm to the mind.

Whether you're new to meditation or you practice regularly, it's important to realise that the art of meditation is very simply to clean the mind!

Calm Mind - Peaceful Heart

We are born to be the healthy and happy. To create this we need to clean the mind in order to come into our heart.
You are supposed to remain you, come what may. That is the actual strength of your mind when it is clean and clear.
The Mind by Yogi Bhajan

We have the fastest and the most wonderful power - 'our own mind'. It can take us deep into our self or far out into the universe. When clear and open, the mind can do anything that we want.

There’s a story about Harry Houdini the master illusionist. Legend says, he claimed he could break out of any prison cell in the world. He was invited to a prison in the south and said he’d break out of it within one hour. Two hours later he was sweating, he had given up and shouted for help. The guard came over and slid the cell door open – it had been open the whole time!

In our Minds, we need to understand that that door is always open. The barriers that we put up between each other, between me and you, they are just barriers in our own mind. That locked gate – it’s not locked! It’s the cell that we have created in our own minds that we have closed, but it’s never locked.

We have a choice to open that cell door.

Through a daily practice of meditation we can improve our mind, heart and body. Meditation is nothing but cleansing the mind through a process. We take a shower to clean our body and yet we don’t meditate to clean the mind. Through this process you become more calm, positive and present. You can become more of the real you rather than reacting in anger or frustration.

If this sounds like something you would like to have more of in your life, then I want you to take a moment, place your hand on your heart, take a deep breath in and state with intent:

"I deserve to feel calm and positive. I now choose to take action and create this calm and peace in my life".

If you're great at getting started but tend to give up before the effects actually begin to work, then please take a moment to do this next written piece before we begin.

I would like you to take a moment to answer the following questions: (this works more powerfully if you write them down)

    1. WHY do you want to have a calm mind?
    2. What will happen if you don’t calm the mind?
    3. What one benefit will you (or your family) get by you feeling more calm?

Now you have your reason to do this. Remember and reflect back on this when you don’t feel like practicing your meditation.

Whatever garbage of the mind remains, it can create negativity. By creating a daily practice of clearing the mind you can free yourself of negative thoughts.

Nobody can clear these thoughts – you are master of your own mind – and if you don’t master your mind then your mind will become your master!

You take a shower to clean the body; you meditate to clean the mind. There really is nothing more to it.

Make meditation your first habit when you get up. If you’ve been living with a busy mind and are ready to feel peace, then try this Kundalini ‘Meditation for a Calm Heart’.  This soothing breath practice (pranayama) relieves anxiety and promotes calmness and mental clarity.

My suggestion is to practice this every day for at least 3 minutes – the video is a 3 minute practice – you can practice this first thing in the morning or last thing at night.

It can take time to establish a new habit – what can be helpful is to have a journal and take note of how you feel after the practice. This helps to track your progress.

“The art of meditation is very simply to clean your mind. By cleansing your mind your soul will shine through” Yogi Bhajan

In Part 2 we'll be taking a journey from the head into the heart.
